Book wrapping for billboards! Every year between Thanksgiving and Christmas, dozens of volunteers participate in the annual PFLAG Tulsa Book Wrapping Project. Donations generated from the project are used to rent billboards throughout metro Tulsa during GLBT Pride month in June.
Danielle Girdano rode her bicycle across the midwest in late summer 2010 to publicize the need for equal rights for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) people; to raise awareness about the high GLBT suicide rate; to address faith-based barriers to full civil rights; and to promote affirming places of refuge.
For each and every mile of Danielle's ride, she carried messages of hope, love and inclusion to help save lives and move people closer to justice.
PFLAG Tulsa and Oklahomans for Equality hosted a reception for Danielle at 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 4, 2010, at the Dennis R. Neill Equality Center.
